Kyoto/Esslingen − On January 1, 2025, KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH has expanded its existing production facilities by adding a new site in Erfurt, Germany. In doing so, the company is expanding its technological capabilities in the field of multi-wire sawing with modern machines and systems designed for high-precision cutting of brittle materials. In addition to machining its own ceramic products, Kyocera will also include contract machining of customer materials in its broad portfolio in the future.

Strategic expansion

This strategic expansion leverages Kyocera’s expertise in applications in target markets such as semiconductor manufacturing and testing. Additionally, this creates new opportunities for the development and production of advanced ceramic products.

The Environmental Technology Division, in which KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH develops and manufactures among other things fume scrubbers and neutralisation units, will also be moving from Mannheim to Erfurt. The new production facility in Erfurt will offer employees more space for efficient development, assembly and testing, while also ensuring faster delivery of products to customers.

Armin Kayser, Managing Director of KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH, expressed his support for the new production site: “We are confident that the new site will not only enhance our service portfolio, but also help us to continue expanding our market presence, particularly in semiconductor applications, and offer our customers even better solutions.”

New jobs for the area in and around Erfurt

The decision to locate the facility in Erfurt was made due to the well-equipped new production areas, which offer additional potential for expansion. As a result, KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH will create appealing job opportunities for Erfurt and the surrounding region. Marco Burkhardt will head up the new facility, which has at first 12 employees. The site is running as a branch of KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH, which is based in Mannheim, under the management of Armin Kayser and Dr Carsten Rußner.
